Title: Thermal Evolution of Neutron Stars
Date (JST): Wed, Jan 10, 2018, 15:40 - 16:40
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: We start with a brief introduction to the historical background in the early pioneering days when the first neutron star cooling calculations predicted the presence of neutron stars hot enough to be observable, and then report on the first detection of neutron star temperatures by ROSAT X-ray satellite, which vindicated the earlier prediction of hot neutron stars. We proceed to summarize the developments which followed the detection, and then introduce our most recent results for thermal evolution of neutron stars with a hyperon-mixed core where a new equation off state is used. Finally we will briefly summarize our current project in progress on magnetar heating.
