Abstract: The existence of derived equivalent but non-birational Calabi--Yau manifolds, so-called Fourier-Mukai partners, is an intriguing and widely investigated phenomenon with important consequences both in algebraic geometry and in string theory. We will work out some new constructions of Fourier-Mukai partner Calabi-Yau manifolds and investigate the geometry behind their relation. In particular, we will investigate the so-called L-equivalence of such pairs giving evidence for a conjecture of Ito-Miura-Okawa-Ueda and Kuznetsov-Shinder relating these two notions. Finally, we shall interpret the constructions in terms of phase transition in some gauged linear sigma models. This is joint work with Marco Rampazzo.
