Abstract: The emergence of Belle II and the upgraded LHCb presents a
significant opportunity to explore physics beyond the standard model
of electroweak interactions. These experiments also hold promise for
establishing constraints on phenomena occurring at much smaller length
scales, such as quantum decoherence. In this study, we establish the
framework to investigate the influence of quantum decoherence on
several potential observables in B meson systems. Our approach employs
the trace-preserving Kraus operator formalism, which extends unitary
evolution to encompass non-unitary dynamics while ensuring complete
positivity. Within this formalism, decoherence effects are
parametrized by a single phenomenological parameter. Through the
analysis of purely leptonic, semi-leptonic, and non-leptonic decays of
B mesons, we identify observables that could potentially be affected
by decoherence. Given that many of these observables can be measured
with high precision using the vast dataset collected by Belle II and
LHCb, our framework can be utilized to set constraints on the
decoherence parameter across multiple decay channels. This offers an
alternative set-up for such studies, which, at present, are
predominantly conducted in the neutrino sector.
