Title: |
Matching QCD radiation in gluino and squark production at the LHC
|
Abstract: |
At a hadron collider such as the LHC, the presence of
initial state QCD radiation can have a large impact on signatures for
new physics. The best available description of jets from QCD radiation
is achieved with a procedure that matches jets from the matrix element
and parton shower descriptions of the radiation. While the effects of
this matching is in general smaller for higher mass particles, there
are many scenarios where such a procedure can be of crucial
importance, not only for Standard Model backgrounds, but also for
production of gluinos and squarks at the LHC. I will present the
matching implementation of MadGraph/MadEvent and Pythia, and discuss
the impact of the matching procedures in some key scenarios for New
Physics.
