Abstract: AdS/CFT provides two very different descriptions on of the same spectrum
at weak and strong 't Hooft coupling respectively. In the former case
the basic degrees of freedom are the gluons (and superpartners) of the
gauge theory while in the latter case we have a dual weakly coupled
description in terms of semiclassical closed strings. As with other
weak/strong coupling dualities it is natural to ask how the weakly
coupled degrees of freedom of one description are manifested in the
other (A classic example is the sine-Gordon kink which corresponds to
the elementary fermion of the dual Thirring model). I will present some
results which illuminate this question.
