We will study the functional of the supersymmetric nonlinear sigma model from the point of view of differential geometry and global analysis. In this framework we will analyze its critical points, which correspond to the classical equations of motion in physics.
We will discuss geometric and analytic properties of the critical points and address the question in which cases one can derive an existence result for them.
