Title: Star/Galaxy Separation and Mapping the Milky Way Halo in HSC

Abstract: I'll discuss the performance of the simplistic star/galaxy separation technique that is currently implemented by the HSC pipeline. I'll then describe a proposed improvement that combines colors with shape measurements which could be easily implemented for the next data release. Finally, I'll summarize some of the work on the Milky Way Halo and its neighbors that can be carried out with a reasonably good star/galaxy separation at HSC's fainter magnitudes (i~25--26). Arguably, HSC will be in the best position to perform faint star counting studies when the survey is completed.
