Title: Hamiltonian approaches to strongly coupled quantum field theory
Date (JST): Wed, Jan 13, 2016, 13:15 - 14:30
Place: Seminar Room B
Abstract: While the lattice reigns supreme in D=4 strongly coupled QFT, in lower dimensions many other methods exist. One such method is Hamiltonian truncation, a QFT relative of the Rayleigh-Ritz method familiar from quantum mechanics. I will discuss several existing incarnations of this method, and to which extent they may be generalizable to higher D. Based on joint work with Matthijs Hogervorst, Balt van Rees and Lorenzo Vitale.
