Title: Peculiar Type Ia Supernovae - An Observational Perspective
Date (JST): Fri, Jan 13, 2017, 13:30 - 14:30
Place: Seminar Room B
Abstract: The observed homogeneity in the photometric and spectroscopic properties of Type Ia supernovae allowed them to be used as standard candle. However, with the increasing sample of well studied Type Ia supernovae, deviation from the observed homogeneity and occurrence of peculiar events is quite evident. They have now been sub-classified under various class e.g. under-luminous, transitional, normal, Iax, Ia-CSM, over-luminous etc. Type Ia supernovae other than the normal ones are collectively termed as peculiar events. In this talk I will present some results based on our observations of some peculiar Type Ia supernovae.
