Title: Triggering on Physics Signatures and Recent Physics Highlights from the LHC-ATLAS experiment
Date (JST): Wed, Aug 30, 2017, 13:30 - 14:30
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: The LHC Run2 period was started in 2015, producing proton-proton collisions at an unprecedented centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. During 2015 and 2016, the ATLAS detector collected about 40 fb−1 of data at the new collision energy. In the first half of this talk, I introduce how challenges of triggering on physics signatures have been successfully addressed by the ATLAS experiment on LHC Run2 data, in order to handle higher instantaneous luminosities (up to 2x10^{34}cm^{-2}s^{-1}). In the second half, I present selected highlights of the recent physics results, from the ATLAS experiment, including the Standard Model, the scalar sector, and searches for new particles.
