Abstract: The structure, kinematics and stellar population content of the galactic bulge are first briefly reviewed, expanding on the age dating on bulge stars and concluding that the bulk of them are over ~10 Gyr old. A lookback time of 10 Gyr corresponds to redshift ~2 and therefore it is at such redshifts that we may find galaxies while brewing their bulges. The scaling with redshift up to z~2 of the basic galaxy properties (star formation rate, size, gas content) are then briefly illustrated and in this context the formation and evolution of the Galactic bulge are discussed.
