MS Seminar (Mathematics - String Theory)

Speaker: Masato Taki (YITP)
Title: 2D Conformal Symmetries, 4D Gauge Theories, & AGT Relations
Date (JST): Tue, Apr 20, 2010, 13:15 - 14:45
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: Abstract for the mini-review:
Conformal field theory is a well-studied topic of quantum field theory, but mysterious relations between conformal field theories in 2- and 4-dimensions have been discovered recently.
I discuss these relations, which are called AGT relations.
I will concentrate on a simplified version of them to get the feel of the relations.
Abstract for the seminar:
I present an overview of the AGT relations.
Then I extend these relations by using the W-algebra, which is a generalization of the Virasoro conformal symmetry.
These relations imply that there is unknown connection between the representation theory of conformal symmetries and the instanton calculus of 4-dimensional gauge theories.
