Abstract: The intrinsic shape of galaxies align with each other. Such galaxy intrinsic alignment is a main contamination for cosmic shear studies. However it also contains useful cosmological information. We have studied the galaxy intrinsic alignment using cosmological hydrodynamical simulations, providing a detailed view on the intrinsic alignment of galaxies with varying properties. We also developed a new shape estimator that can be applied to, e.g. targets of PFS cosmology survey, for extracting the cosmological information encoded in intrinsic alignment.
