Abstract: As current optical surveys prepare to deliver their legacy results and upcoming experiments approach the beginning of their science operations, weak lensing is occupying a critical role in our understanding of the Universe. Main goals of weak lensing analyses include the understanding of the S8 tension, the search for new physics and the determination of the dark energy equation-of-state parameter. In this talk, I will describe a research program that contributes directly to those goals by improving on the modeling of astrophysical effects such as intrinsic alignments, extracting information in the form of non-Gaussian statistics and (time permitting) utilizing an extended DECam dataset in the southern sky.
