Title: Active Galactic Nuclei at z>5 with JWST
Date (JST): Wed, Mar 13, 2024, 13:30 - 15:00
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: JWST has revealed a new population of UV-faint active galactic nuclei (AGN). Some are intrinsically faint, while others are heavily dust reddened. We highlight a surprisingly common population of compact dust-reddened broad-line AGN recently discovered with JWST. These sources have such compact sizes that the black hole to galaxy ratio is quite extreme (>1%) and yet comprise at least 1% of the galaxy population at moderate UV luminosity. We discuss the implications for black hole seeding and galaxy coevolution.
