Title: Testing the heavy decaying sterile neutrino hypothesis at the DUNE near detector
Date (JST): Fri, Mar 28, 2025, 13:30 - 15:30
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: A decaying sterile neutrino with mass in the 10 keV - 1 MeV range could explain the long-standing
anomalies observed by the short-baseline oscillation experiments LSND and MiniBooNE.
After having reviewed the status of these anomalies, I will introduce the heavy decaying
sterile neutrino scenario and show that it can be tested at the DUNE near detector,
with a better sensitivity than the Short-Baseline Neutrino program at Fermilab.
I will then discuss the possibility to distinguish between Dirac and Majorana neutrinos,
assuming this scenario is realized in Nature.
