| Abstract: |
Renormalization is an essential aspect of both effective field theory (EFT) and conformal field theory (CFT). I will present the multi-loop perturbative renormalization of general (gauged) scalar theories with arbitrary field content and interactions in 4-ε spacetime dimensions. The generality of our calculation allows for a range of applications and insights in a large class of theories. For instance, the computed anomalous dimensions are of direct relevance for phenomenological studies in the Standard Model EFT, and for real-world critical phenomena in three dimensions (ε=1), since fixed points of the renormalization-group flow are CFTs. Our perturbative results compare favourably with non-perturbative data, and they enable future non-perturbative studies in cases where such data are currently lacking.
