Abstract:
In positive characteristic p, the nontrivial linear actions of the p-cyclic group cannot be diagonalized, and therefore give rise to quotient singularities that have properties different from those over the complex numbers. In this talk, we study the resolutions of such linear p-cyclic quotient singularities by constructing a natural model via invariant weighted blow-up. We show that this construction gives a resolution in a series of specific cases. In general, when p>3 and the p-cyclic quotient singularity is canonical but not terminal, our model is terminal, and is the unique nontrivial projective crepant model of the p-cyclic quotient. As a result, we give the complete list of linear p-cyclic quotient singularities that admit projective crepant resolutions. This talk is based on joint work with Hongmin Li.
