Title: Universal hydrodynamic description of quantum critical points with Lifshitz scaling
Date (JST): Tue, Jul 09, 2013, 13:15 - 14:45
Place: Seminar Room A
Abstract: Part 1 : In the introductory part, we give a short review of recent progress on the theories with the Lifshitz scaling, especially in the context of AdS/CFT correspondence.
Part 2 : In the main part of the talk, we explain a universal hydrodynamic description of systems with quantum critical points with Lifshitz scaling, both in relativistic and non-relativistic contexts. Our surprising new result is the discovery of a single new transport coefficient allowed by the absence of boost invariance. It is compatible with the Landau frame condition and positivity of local entropy current. We explain the effects of this new term in detail and provide verifiable experimental consequences. As far as we are aware, this has never been done before.
