Abstract: Topological string theory on Calabi-Yau manifolds has been an area
of active research.
I discuss the important techniques for computing topological string
amplitudes and some recent results
on compact Calabi-Yau manifolds. These recent results allows for the test
of Bekenstein-Hawing entropy
for a class of 5-d black holes obtained from compactifying M-theory on
Calabi-Yau manifolds.
I discuss some potential connections to matrix models.
