Abstract: We describe a construction of a class of 4d supersymmetric field theories arising from the 6d (2,0) SCFT compactified on the fiber of a fibration by Riemann surfaces. When the fibration is trivial these are the familiar class S theories. Singular fibers contribute duality defects to the 4d theory -- loci in spacetime around which the couplings of the theory undergo monodromy in the mapping class group. We consider the anomalies of such theories by integration of the 6d anomaly polynomial along the fiber. In the simplest case of a torus fibration the 4d theory is N=4 super-Yang-Mills with holomorphically varying coupling and SL(2, Z) monodromy. Further compactifiation to 2d with a "topological duality twist" gives chiral SCFTs, for which the AdS duals have recently been found.
