This lecture will discuss a universal formalism to describe supersymmetric backgrounds in off-shell supergravity using superfield techniques.
As an application, I will describe the vector Goldstone multiplet model for partially broken supersymmetry in curved maximally supersymmetric backgrounds in four dimensions.
