Abstract: Knot contact homology is an invariant of knots/links originally defined by counting pseudoholomorphic disks. In this talk, we present an algebraic formalism that gives a new construction of knot contact homology (in fact an extension of it). The input for this construction is a natural braid group action on the category of perverse sheaves on the 2-dimensional disk. We also discuss relations with Fukaya categories as well as with noncommutative geometry.
