Abstract: The cohomological Donaldson–Thomas (CoDT) invariants associated with Calabi–Yau threefolds are categorifications of the DT invariants introduced by Joyce and his coauthors. In this talk, I will explain the "dimensional reduction" in CoDT theory relating the CoDT invariants for local surfaces and the Borel–Moore homology of the moduli stacks of sheaves on the base surfaces. I will also explain a new construction of the virtual fundamental classes for quasi-smooth derived schemes based on the dimensional reduction theorem.
