Abstract: Symmetries are of fundamental importance in physics, and have recently received renewed interest, prompted by the discovery of novel types of symmetries. In this talk, I will consider one such class of novel symmetries, known as non-invertible symmetries, and discuss their appearance in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. I shall further discuss how these symmetries can be used to realize new 3d N=6 theories by the method of twisted compactification.
