Abstract: Surface operators are the non-local operators supported on surfaces in 4-dimensions. We consider the surface operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory and the N=1 superconformal gauge theory named Klebanov-Witten theory. In AdS/CFT correspondence these surface operators have gravity counterparts as D3-branes in AdS_5 x S5 or AdS_5 x T^{1,1}. We check the supersymmetry of these D3-branes and find it agree with the supersymmetry of the surface operators. We also calculate the correlation functions with the local chiral primary operators following GKPW prescription and compare them with the gauge theory results.
