| Abstract: | The pseudo-conformal universe is a framework for the early universe which is an alternative to inflation. As opposed to the de Sitter space of inflation, in this scenario the early universe is a nearly flat Minkowski space with a conformal field theory. Some of the fields of the CFT get a time-dependent VEV, which spontaneously breaks the conformal symmetry down to a de Sitter subgroup. This generates a scale invariant spectrum of perturbations, and solves the standard flatness and horizon problems. |
