Special Seminar (fundamentals seminar)
Speaker: Leander Thiele (Kavli IPMU)
Title: Fundamentals of Machine Learning more
Date: Tue, Feb 17, 2026, 15:30 - 17:00
Place: Seminar Room A
Remarks: The Fundamentals Seminar is an interdisciplinary seminar series on fundamental problems in physics and cosmology. The core mission of our Institute is the study of the Universe, i.e., cosmology in some wider sense, which includes particle physics and string theory, with mathematics providing language and technical tools.

We'd like to further this mission by facilitating interdisciplinary interaction.

We envision holding the seminar once a month. Each session will be a blackboard presentation of some truly important problem with a lot of time for discussion, the talk explaining the issue at hand, what has been tried and did not work, and how mathematics (or anything else) can possibly help. In addition, we plan to include talks on "local problems" that people are working on now and which can benefit from a fresh look.

This meeting is in person only.
